The result is a shirt that looks like it was made from a collection of bandanas, which is precisely the point.

Every Block Tells a Different Story

The bandana began as a working cloth. Carried in the back pocket of cowboys, railroad workers, and field hands across nineteenth-century America, it was used to wipe sweat, filter dust, and signal allegiance — its paisley and floral motifs, borrowed from Indian and Persian textile traditions, accumulating new meanings with each generation that adopted it.

The Bandana Patchwork shirt takes that history and cuts it into blocks. Indigo, black and off-white panels — each carrying a different element of the classic print: paisley swirls, polka dots, chrysanthemum medallions, border frames — are arranged across the full surface of the shirt in the manner of Boro patchwork, the Japanese tradition of repairing and reinforcing fabric by sewing together whatever pieces were available.
